Carlsten Fortress is located on the island of Marstrand, about 45 kilometers northwest of Gothenburg. You can get there by car, bus or boat. Since car traffic is prohibited on Marstrand Island, you can take the ferry from Ko\u00f6n to Marstrands\u00f6n by car or bus. Ko\u00f6n is located 100-150 meters east of Marstrand and the ferry crossing takes only a few minutes. <\/p>

By car
<\/strong>Description from Gothenburg: Take the E6 towards Oslo. At Kung\u00e4lv (approx. 20 km) take road 168 (signposted Marstrand) and follow this (approx. 25 km) to Marstrand-Ko\u00f6n. <\/p>

Parking<\/strong>
At the entrance to Marstrand-Ko\u00f6n there are signs to several different parking lots. The principle is that the closer to the ferry terminal, the more expensive the fee. During the winter months, most parking lots are free – see instructions on site.

The ferry
<\/strong>The ferry between Ko\u00f6n-Marstrand runs all day and has timetable number 322. During the day it runs every 15 minutes and during the night it runs every half hour on call. <\/p>

NOTE! If you have come by bus, the bus ticket is also valid for crossing to Marstrand Island. You do not need to buy a ferry ticket when traveling by bus.
