Carlsten Fortress is located on the island of Marstrand about 45 kilometers northwest of Gothenburg. Here you can get here by car, bus or boat. Since car traffic is prohibited on Marstrandsön, you who travel by car or bus are allowed to take the ferry from Koön to Marstrandsön. Koön is located 100-150 meters east of Marstrand and the ferry crossing takes only a few minutes.

Driving
Description from Gothenburg: Take the E6 towards Oslo. At Kungälv (about 20 km) you take off on road 168 (signposted Marstrand) and follow this (about 25 km) to Marstrand-Koön.

parking
At the entrance to Marstrand-Koön there are signs for a number of different parking spaces. The principle is that the closer the ferry location, the more expensive the fee. During the winter months, most parking spaces are free - see instructions on site.

Ferry
The ferry between Koön-Marstrand runs 24 hours a day and has schedule no. 322. During the day it runs every 15 minutes and during the night it goes every half hour after summons.

NB! If you have arrived on the bus, the bus ticket also applies to crossing to Marstrandsön. You do not need to solve a ferry ticket when traveling by bus.
